MCP Server Terms of Use

iching.rocks operates a public, read-only Model Context Protocol (MCP) server at https://mcp.iching.rocks/mcp. It serves our original I Ching translation and commentary — the same hexagram, trigram, and reading-context data published on this website — as structured data for AI assistants, agents, and other integrations. Every response from the server links back to this page. These terms explain what you may do with that data.

1. Citation and Quotation Are Welcome

You may quote or cite the hexagram texts, translations, and commentary returned by the MCP server — in AI-assistant answers, research, articles, applications, or anywhere else — provided you include attribution. Short excerpts, individual hexagram or trigram entries, and reading-context lookups are exactly what this server is for.

2. Attribution

Attribution should name iching.rocks as the source and, where practical, link to the relevant page on this site. Every MCP response carries a source object containing the canonical page URL for the data it returns (for example https://iching.rocks/hexagram/24) — that URL is the preferred attribution target. When no specific page applies, link to https://iching.rocks.

3. Bulk Reuse Requires a Separate Agreement

The translation and commentary served by the MCP server are original, copyrighted work (© iching.rocks). Bulk reproduction, redistribution, or dataset-scale reuse — republishing the corpus or substantial portions of it, mirroring it as a competing dataset or API, bundling it into a product, or using it as training data at scale — is not covered by the citation permission above and requires a separate written agreement. If that is what you need, please contact us.

4. What the Server Does Not Do

The MCP server is deterministic lookup and computation only. It performs no divination, no casting, and no AI interpretation — those remain part of the website's Oracle experience. The server requires no account and collects no personal data beyond ordinary operational logs (client IP, user agent, and the tool or resource requested) used for abuse prevention and service health.

5. Service Availability

The MCP server is provided free of charge, "as-is" and "as available," with no uptime guarantee. Rate limits apply and may change without notice. We may modify or discontinue the server at any time.

6. Relationship to the Site Terms

Use of the MCP server is also governed by the website's general Terms of Service. Where these MCP terms are more specific about the data served by the MCP endpoint, they take precedence for that use.

By using the MCP server, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these terms.
