About the Transformations of Hexagram 55

Hexagram 55, Peak Fullness (豐 Fēng), sets Fire in the lower trigram and Thunder in the upper. Fire supplies articulated clarity below, while Thunder introduces activation above. Changes at positions 1–3 modify Fire and the internal configuration; changes at positions 4–6 reshape Thunder. Transformations spanning both halves redistribute differentiation and movement across the entire figure rather than altering one trigram in isolation.

For each table entry, all lines marked as changing reverse polarity and the finished pattern resolves into another hexagram. Six entries isolate movement at one line, while fifty-seven enumerate every possible multi-line combination. The unchanging reading completes the set: no position inverts, no secondary figure is generated, and the Judgment of Hexagram 55 alone governs.

When every line changes, Peak Fullness resolves into Hexagram 59, Dissolution, its complete complement. Its King Wen partner is instead Hexagram 56, Sojourning, produced through inversion. Turning Hexagram 55 upside down creates Sojourning's line structure and establishes the consecutive pair. The relation to Dissolution is therefore polar, whereas the relation to Sojourning is based on reversed vertical orientation.
